Tanaza sees Srinagar-based hip-hop artist Ahmer truly take on the mantle of being one of Kashmir's leading voices in its battle against State-sponsored oppression and corruption.

On Tanaza, Ahmer teams up with Tufail, a young Kashmiri artist who has emerged as one of the most exciting new voices in the region. The duo exchange rapid-fire bars about the corruption of the local police and Indian army who routinely harass the local population at so-called checkpoints in Hindi, Urdu and Koshurreminiscent of genre-defining duos such as Run The Jewels, Mobb Deep and Clipse.

Produced by Zero Chill, the visuals for Tanaza were conceptualised and directed by Rayees [Roomi Studios] with a completely local crew and was shot during a time when the Indian government is arresting those who are even thinking about speaking out and leading the resistance against it. Having skirted past the local police and Indian army checkpoints, Tanaza is the embodiment of the Kashmiri spirit and a testament to the talent that is present in one of the world's most dangerous places.
